Same Day Dentures
By Dave Kettner
Same day are a fairly new concept in the arena of oral care. Simply put, same day are temporary that are made to be worn during the time of healing immediately following tooth extraction.
This process allows patients to immediately have teeth in their mouth after an extraction. This way, they are not forced to be toothless until the time when their mouth is ready for what will become their permanent dentures.
Same day do tend to lose their grip when the person’s gums shrink during the healing process. However, the benefit of
having any tooth use during the healing time is welcome in any case.
Most same day are very inexpensive and may be thrown away when it is time for the final cosmetic to be used. Removal of same day during the healing process may render them useless until the healing is complete.
Same day typically take less than three hours to manufacture after a mold is taken of the patient’s mouth. These are often very natural for patients to use, as they are crafted after the patient’s existing tooth structure prior to any extractions.
